Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q’s)

Can I get a connection?

Great news we are building our network starting Autumn 2020, so please bear with us. You can register interest here, and as soon as we are ready to bring our service to your address, street, area, village or town we’ll let you know.

What is installed at my property?

We’ll install a small antenna. The size of the antenna will depend on how far your property is from our network. Our smallest antenna is roughly the size of a large smartphone and our larger antenna’s are smaller than a satellite T.V. dish. From the antenna we’ll install a small cable into your property and connect this to a router, not dissimilar to the type you’d get with a traditional broadband connection. This router needs to be connected to a regular electrical socket and has built-in Wi-Fi, allowing you to enjoy stress-free Internet browsing without wires throughout your property.*

How much does it cost?

Our service starts from £29.99 per month, but depending on your needs, you can opt for a faster service and pay the difference. Our pricing for home Broadband is here and for Business Broadband is here. You may also be eligible for FREE installation, depending on where you live, as grant funding may be available. Click here to find out if you qualify for a free installation. For addresses that don’t qualify for free installation our activation fee is £59.99** inclusive of VAT.

Do I need a phone line?

No. Unlike conventional broadband our service does not require a landline.

Can I use the connection for any kind of Internet use i.e. streaming movies, online gaming etc?

Yes, you should consider our service in exactly the same way as you would a cable connection – only without a cable.***

Is this 5G?

No, this is Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), however 5G really only means 5th generation technology, so it isn’t something anyone should be wary of.

I’ve heard Wireless isn’t reliable, especially in bad weather. Is that correct?

No. Our network is being designed by our in-house experts whom are trusted by large business organisations to deliver ‘always-on’ connectivity for their business critical needs. Wireless isn’t new technology and most of us use it every day.

What happens if something goes wrong?

We’ll be monitoring our network 24/7/365 and in the unlikely event of an issue, we have an in-house team ready to put it right. You’ll be able to contact us if you experience a problem and we’ll fix it without delay. If the problem turns out to be something that’s happened outside of our control we’ll let you know and keep you updated by text or email or via our website (though we do understand you might not be able to access that if your broadband is down).

Can I get a fixed I.P. address?

Yes, but fixed IP addressing is only available with our Business Service Packages. Fixed I.P. addresses are charged at £7.50 per month each (Plus VAT).

Can I get a phone line or service from you?

Yes, pricing differs for residential or business packages & can be viewed here for home & here for business.

Can I use my existing phone?

Of course. The routers we supply come with the connections you need to plug in your existing phone.

Why would I want a VoIP telephone service?

By using your Transmitair broadband connection to make and receive phone calls you can make considerable savings both on call charges and line rental.

On our standard service all calls to national numbers are free all day every day, as are calls to uk mobile networks so there’s no need to wait until weekends or evenings. You can also typically expect to save somewhere between £12 and £20 for the line rental itself every month.

How to transfer my landline number to VoIP

There are a few checks to carry out before you move to VOIP

  1. In the case of landline numbers, when you transfer your number to us your line will cease on the day of the transfer (and you may be still liable for the remainder of the contract).
  2. If that line also had a broadband service on it, it will also cease (and you may be still liable for the remainder of the contract).
  3. If that line has any alarm functions connected to it (such as red care, Telecare or community alarm Services) these will no longer function and must be cancelled before transferring your number. Please consult with your provider before requesting a number transfer.
  4. It should be stressed however that consumer broadband routers provide no battery back-up, therefore when home power fails you will be unable to make VOIP calls. Contact us at for advice on where to purchase a battery back-up unit.

If you want to keep the old line once you move your number to VOIP you will need to check if your current supplier will renumber it. Although with our VOIP there’s no need to keep you’re old line and pay the rental on it as our Broadband and VOIP service both run over our wireless connection.

How long does it take to port my phone number?

The time it takes to port a number to VoIP can vary, but it usually takes around 10 working days.

*We can’t guarantee our router will provide Wi-Fi coverage throughout your entire property, however we can extend the reach of our router by installing additional Wi-Fi Access Points (AP) at an additional cost. Please ask us for a quote.

**This price is for a standard installation, which includes a standard antenna bracket, up to 20 metres of external grade cable, internal router with Wi-Fi. Installations that do not meet this criteria will incur additional charges. Please ask us before proceeding. Any additional pricing is fixed and there are never any hidden charges – ever.
